We (Skin)care is a student organization at UC Irvine for anyone curious and passionate about skincare and self-care. We (Skin)care provides beginner-friendly educational meetings, industry guest speakers events, and engaging socials. In the organization's first year, I established We (Skin)care's branding and social media presence.

Skincare Reviews
As a visual designer, I designed graphics for event marketing and built We (Skin)care's Instagram presence. I spearheaded 5+ Instagram campaigns to boost community engagement and brand awareness. I was involved in every step of the production process, including ideation, design, copywriting, posting, and community engagement.
We (Skin)care's primary campaign focused on skincare product reviews, providing members a space to educate and share experiences with skincare products. Accepted by submission, I edited the photos using Lightroom and organized them with the feed layout tool UNUM to ensure consistency with the organization's branding.

Infographics
Following the surge in popularity of infographics on Instagram, I initiated a campaign focused on educating our audience about various skincare topics through visually engaging infographics. Collaborating with a research team, I condensed their findings into concise, easy-to-read text for bi-weekly graphic designs.
In addition to informative infographics, I introduced a variation called "Speaker Spotlights". These infographics recapped guest speaker events in a question-and-answer format, providing key takeaways from general meetings.

Reels
Leveraging new Instagram features, I integrated Reels into We (Skin)care's campaigns. The primary objective was to boost community engagement and showcase the brand's personality through visually appealing, short-form content.
By transforming static review posts into dynamic Reels, we utilized Instagram's audio and text features to create more engaging content for our audience. The video format allowed us to include b-roll of product applications, adding a layer of authenticity and aesthetic interest.
We also highlighted the brand's personality by creating Reels that featured board members. This included a board introduction video that followed the steps of a skincare routine and a question-and-answer format that addressed common questions about the student organization. Not only did these efforts humanize We (Skin)care, but they also fostered a stronger connection with our community.

Results
To ensure a smooth transition for my successor, I created a detailed guidelines document outlining the responsibilities of the visual designer role. I provided a breakdown of social media campaigns with design, product photo retouching, and feed layout tips and resources. The cover was designed using Illustrator, while the text and layout were organized in Google Docs.
The social media strategies I implemented proved effective in boosting engagement and fostering a supportive community. Over a span of four months, We (Skin)care saw its follower count grow by over 1,000. This success was recognized by the UCI Office of Campus Organizations which awarded We (Skin)care with the Outstanding Social Media Engagement award.
